Stage 1: Introduction (1 minute)

The aim of this task is  to set the candidates at ease and to allow them to relax into the speaking assessment with some general questions about for example their hobbies, friends and so
on.
It is for the candidate to express and respond with personal feelings and opinions.

This phase is not assessed.

Section Time Procedure
10 Seconds Examiner: Hello, please sit down. My name is X.
What’s your name? (to Candidate A)
And what’s your name? (to Candidate B)
So your names are (name and serial number A) and (name and serial number B).
25 Seconds

Examiner asks a question. ( to Candidate A)

Candidate A responds.

25 Seconds

Examiner asks a question. ( to Candidate B) 

Candidate B responds.

Introductory Questions (One Minute)

Stage 2: Topic Presentation (4 minutes)

The aim of the Topic Presentation task is for the candidate to show that they are able to present an oral report or summary on a subject of their choice or to narrate an incident or event in their lives. This reflects not only the CBSE curriculum objectives but also a real life skill whereby students and employees have to prepare and then present material to an audience. It is very important the students do not recite learnt material. Marks will be awarded for real engagement with their topic and being able to talk about some personal experience of it.

Stage 3: Topic Questions

The aim of the Topic Questions task is for the candidates to show that they are able to adopt different strategies to convey ideas according to purpose, topic and audience and also to frame questions so as to elicit a desired response. It is also an opportunity for the examiner to check they truly understand their presentation and have not just memorised it.

The focus of the Topic Questions task is for the candidate to communicate confidently on matters related to his or her interest and for their partner to exchange and check information. The task is focussed on interaction between the two candidates with each other and with the examiner. The other candidate will ask a question and the candidate has 20-30 seconds to respond. Then the examiner will ask the candidate questions about their topic for 1 minute. After this the Task 2 procedure is repeated for the second candidate.

5 Seconds

Examiner (to Candidate A): Now you are going to tell us about your topic. When you have finished, Candidate B will ask you a question and then I will ask you some more questions. Would you like to begin please?

1 Minute Candidate A speaks
15 Seconds Examiner: Thank you. (Candidate B) can you ask (Candidate A) a question please?

Candidate B asks question; Candidate A responds.

40 Seconds Examiner asks 2 or 3 follow-up questions as appropriate from the topic follow-up list.

Candidate A responds.

5 Seconds Examiner: Thank you. Now (Candidate B), you are going to tell us about your topic. When you have finished, (Candidate A) will ask you a question and then I will ask you some more questions. Would you like to begin please?
1 Minute Candidate B speaks
15 Seconds Examiner: Thank you. (Candidate B) can you ask (Candidate A) a question please?
40 Minutes

Examiner asks 2 or 3 follow-up questions as appropriate from the topic follow up list.
Candidate B responds.

Stage 4: Problem solving Task (3 minutes)

The aim of the Problem Solving task is for the candidates to show that they are able to take part in group discussion, summarise ideas, elicit views and opinions of others, express and argue a point of view and participate in spontaneous spoken discourse.

The focus of the Problem Solving task is for the candidate to show that they can enter unprepared into conversation on familiar topics and express personal opinions. The two candidates discuss
together a problem selected randomly by the examiner. The problem task, written on a card, will be within one of the CBSE curriculum topic areas. They do not need to find a solution.

Section Time Procedure
25 Seconds

Examiner: Thank you. Now let’s go to the next task. I’m going to give you a card which has information about a problem.

Both the candidates choose same problem task. They read the problem task in the card (20 seconds).

Then the examiner ask them to start speaking.

2 Minutes Candidates discuss the problem and a solution.
30 Seconds

Examiner: OK, can you stop now please. Option A (for candidates who have reached a solution): Thank you. Option B (for candidates who have not reached a solution): Can you agree on a solution? What is it?

1 Minute

Ask a question. (Candidates ask each other a Question from the problem task they discussed.)

Please stop there. That’s the end of the test.

Thank you and goodbye.

    • firstly, i would approach those students personally and explain them that what harm they are making to themselves and what advantage these practices are having with examples
      if then too they don’t understand then i will approach their parents and teacher and discuss this problem with them, and tell them if they continue these kind of practices then would damage their future
      if this too doesn’t work i will force them to take physical classes and and stop them to bunk classes, maybe the long term benefit draw them towards attending these classes.
