General Instructions:
1. This paper is divided into three Sections A, B and C. All the sections are compulsory.
2. Separate instructions are given with each section and question, wherever necessary. Read these instructions very carefully and follow them faithfully.
3. Do not exceed the prescribed word limit while answering the questions.
Section- A: (Reading) 20 Marks
Q1. An unseen passage for comprehension (500-600 words). 12 Marks
a. MCQ 5 Marks
b. VSAQ 5 Marks
c. Vocabulary 2 Marks
Q2. An unseen passage for Note-making & Summarising (400-500 words). 8 Marks
a. Note-making 5 Marks
b. Summarising 3 Marks
Section- B: (Advanced Writing Skills) 30 Marks
Q3. Short compositions, e.g., Advertisements/ Posters/ Notices/ Formal & Informal invitations and their replies. (Any one of two questions) Word limit – 50 words (4 Marks)
Q4. Letter Writing (Business/official letters) (Any one of two questions) Word limit – 100 – 125 words (6 Marks)
Q5. Debate/ Speech Writing (Any one of two questions) Word limit – 150 – 200 words (10 Marks)
Q6. Report/ Article Writing (Any one of two questions) Word limit – 150 – 200 words (10 Marks)
Section- C: (Text-Books) 30 Marks
Q7. (A) An extract from poetry section (Flamingo) to test comprehension and appreciation. 1×4=4 Marks
(B) An extract from prose section (Flamingo) to test comprehension and appreciation. 1×4=4 Marks
Q8. Short Answer Questions based on prose/ drama/poetry from both the texts-books.
(Any five of six/seven questions from Flamingo & Vistas) 2×5=10 Marks
Q9. Long Answer Question based on texts to test global comprehension and extrapolation beyond the texts to bring out the key messages and values.
(Any one of two questions from Flamingo) 6 Marks
Q10. Long Answer Question based on texts to test global comprehension along with analysis and extrapolation.
(Any one of two questions from Vistas). 6 Marks
