Sir

Sub: A complaint regarding students, who do not follow rules.

It is to bring to your notice that the school going students do not follow the traffic rules. There are many students who come to school riding their motor bikes and scooties. But they are habitual of not using helmets. Triple riding has become a fashion in the city. These students do not possess the driving licence even. They have no control on the speed of the vehicle. You may be aware of the accidents that take place in the city.

I humbly request you to check the underage driving and penalise the students who disobey the traffic
rules and oblige.

Yours faithfully

Answer.

FASHION AMONG STUDENTS

Undoubtedly, pupils are fashion-crazy. They seek variety and novelty. They grow weary of dull uniformity of the regimented life. They need changes in house decoration, hair do, dress pattern, housing models and even in the manner of walking and talking. Gone are the days when the students were taught ‘simple living and high thinking’. Fashion is the order of the day in the brave new World. As soon as a student is promoted to high classes, his gait, talk, hair style, dress pattern go under a sea change. He starts following the celebrities. Fashion has also affected girls. Their short skirts show their craze for displaying their figures to the limit of immodesty. Their trousers do not let them sit properly. Smoking go on strike on petty issues, pass remarks on others, discuss polities and throw parties. Many bad habits have become the criteria for fashion.

The children broke the twigs easily. They did not face any problem. Then he asked them to tie the twigs together and asked them to break the log of wood. Answer. The elders in Goa are often heard reminiscing nostalgically about those good old Portuguese days, the Portuguese and their famous loaves of bread. Those eaters of loaves might have vanished but the makers are still there. They still have amongst them the mixers, the moulders, and those who bake the loaves. Those age-old, time-tested furnaces still exist. The fire in the furnaces has not yet been extinguished. The thud and jingle of the traditional baker’s bamboo, heralding his arrival in the morning can still be heard in some places. May be the father is not alive but the son still carries on the family profession. These bakers are even today, know as pader in Goa. The practice of selling loaves of bread in Goa still exists. Q11. Answer. Bill and the narrator were searching Lutkins. The narrator was delighted to get the hack driver’s help and support. They sat on the hilltop and looked over the pastures and creek among trees. Bill talked of New Mullion and painted a picture in words of all the people in it. He noticed everything, but no matter how much he might laugh at people, he also understood and forgave their foolishness. He described the minister’s wife who sang the loudest in church when she was most in debt. He commented on the boys who came back from college in fancy clothes. He told about the lawyer whose wife could never succeed in getting him to put on both a collar and a tie on the same day. He made them all alive. The narrator came to know New Mullion better than he did the city and to love it better. Bill had no idea of colleges and cities. But he had travelled around a lot of the country. From his adventures he had brought back a philosophy of simplicity and laughter.
