Ans. The following are the required documents for getting admission in stream 2:
For X Fail
(1) Original Fail Mark sheet of 10th, Original admit card and Photocopy of Aadhar card.
(2) Passport size photographs with name and date of taking photograph.
(3) Photocopy of parent’s address proof.
For XII Fail
(1) Original Fail Mark sheet of 12th, Photocopy of 10th Mark Sheet and Certificate, Original admit card and Photocopy of Aadhar card.

NIOS Board Mark Sheet, Provisional Certificate, Migration cum Transfer Certificate and Pass Certificate will be awarded of the same year to the successful candidates.

Ans. A student can apply for new admission in the following way:
• Visit www.nios.ac.in via Internet Browser.
• Online admission option is available on the top left side.
• Click continue after selecting the desired course and stream.
• Create a new account for yourself.
• A confirmation email will be received on the email id provided.
Q6. How many streams are there in NIOS?
Ans. NIOS has four streams where students can apply for online admission. They are:
Stream 1: This stream is open for the students who are going to appear in NIOS board exam for class 10th or 12th for the first time.
Stream 2: This stream is open for the Board exam fail students of class 10th & 12th.
Stream 3 & 4: This stream is open for admission throughout the year. The stream includes learners who have already passed Senior Secondary or from any recognized Board/University and want to take part admission in one subject or up to 4 subjects for updating their qualification.
Q7. What is the eligibility criteria for getting admission in X and XII?
Ans. Class X: The minimum age to take admission in the Secondary Course (Class X) is 14 years as on 31st January. A learner who has passed class VIII and has valid proof of attaining 14 years of age can apply for registration to the Secondary Course.
A learner giving a self-certificate “I have studied enough to be able to pursue secondary course” is also eligible for admission to the Secondary Course.
A learner who had studied at the secondary level can also seek admission in NIOS either to complete his course or to improve his performance.
Class XII: The minimum age to take admission in the Senior Secondary Course is 15 years as on 31st January.In order to take admission in the Senior Secondary course, the learner must have passed the Secondary course from a recognised Board.
Q8. What are the supporting documents required for admission in NIOS?
Ans. The learner has to be ready with the Scanned copy/soft copy (jpg, jpeg files) of the given below documents which will be required to be uploaded while registering for the Admission to Secondary and Senior Secondary courses.
(a) Recent Passport size color Photograph.
(b) Signature (preferably in Black Ink)
(c) Valid identity proof (like Aadhaar Card or Passport or Ration card or etc.)
(d) Valid proof of Date of Birth (like Aadhaar Card with date of birth printed on it in the dd/mm/yyyy format, Birth Certificate etc.)
(e) Class 8th mark sheet (in case of secondary course) or class 10th mark sheet (in case of senior secondary course)

Q9. What is the on line fees for the admission in class X & XII in NIOS?
Ans. The admission fee is between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 2000.
Q10. What is the on line examination fees in class X & XII in NIOS?
Ans. The examination fees for both classes X and XII is the same and payable for everyone. The details of NIOS examination fees for April 2020 are given in the table below:
For Theory: Rs. 250 per subject
For Practical: Rs. 120 per subject
Late fees for examination: Rs. 100

Ans. No, a student is eligible for getting admission in class XII only after a gap of one year. For example if he has passed class X in 2019, he can appear for class XII examination in 2021 after a gap of one year.
Q12. On what ground can an admission be rejected in NIOS?
Ans. Your admission can be rejected even at later stage:
1. If the required supporting documents are missing.
2. If the false documents or incomplete information or wrong information is submitted.
3. If a candidate conceals/hides the requisite information.
4. If the required educational qualifications or the minimum age criterion is not fulfilled.
5. If the Secondary examination is not passed from a recognised Board.
Note: Admission once cancelled will not be re-considered. Fee will not be refunded in such cases.

Q14. Can a student change his stream in NIOS?
Ans. During the admission period of five years, you can change one or more subject(s), provided the total number of subjects does not exceed seven. However, such a change is permissible within four years of your registration, so that you can appear in Public Examinations within the validity period of admission.
